Has macro progressed?

چکیده
There have been a number of recent papers arguing that there has been considerable convergence in macro research and to the good. This paper considers the question whether what has been converged to is good. Has progress been made in understanding how the macro economy works?

Hofstede and Schwartz’s models for classifying individualism at the cultural level: their relation to macro-social and macro-economic variables1
lues at the cultural level, such as those employed by Hofstede (1984), Triandis (1995) and Schwartz (1994). Hofstede proposes a one dimensional structure called simply individualism-collecti vism; those cultures that emphasize the autonomy of the person are grouped under individualism, while those cultures whose most important values place emphasis on the dependency of the individual with respe...
متن کاملDynamics of Macro–Nano Mechanical Systems; Fixed Interfacial Multiscale Method
The continuum based approaches don’t provide the correct physics in atomic scales. On the other hand, the molecular based approaches are limited by the length and simulated process time. As an attractive alternative, this paper proposes the Fixed Interfacial Multiscale Method (FIMM) for computationally and mathematically efficient modeling of solid structures. The approach is applicable to mult...
متن کاملA Long-Term Analysis of Growth and Usage Patterns in the Multicast Backbone (MBone)
The Multicast Backbone (MBone), the Internet's multicast research infrastructure, has existed since the early 1990s. Since its inception, there have been few formal studies investigating the “state of multicast”, i.e. the success of multicast deployment. Our work attempts to understand (1) how the MBone is used, (2) how multicast deployment has progressed, and (3) what barriers exist for the co...
متن کاملRecruitment of benthic organisms onto a planned artificial reef: shifts in community structure one decade post-deployment.
Most artificial reef (AR) studies have examined the early colonization stages of benthic communities, while only a few have monitored the development of AR communities beyond the initial successional phases and evaluated the time scale needed for such development. In addition, despite the proliferation of AR studies, comparative studies between artificial and natural reefs (NRs) are scarce. We ...
متن کاملCOMMUNITY TRACKING IN A cMOOC AND NOMADIC LEARNER BEHAVIOR IDENTIFICATION ON A CONNECTIVIST RHIZOMATIC LEARNING NETWORK
This article contributes to the literature on connectivism, connectivist MOOCs (cMOOCs) and rhizomatic learning by examining participant interactions, community formation and nomadic learner behavior in a particular cMOOC, #rhizo15, facilitated for 6 weeks by Dave Cormier. It further focuses on what we can learn by observing Twitter interactions particularly. As an explanatory mixed research de...
